Creativity and Aging Grants

Creativity and Aging in AmericaFiscal Year 2009 New guidelines for grants on Creativity and Aging in America target projects that actively engage older Americans in ongoing programming in the disciplines of literature and/ or music. Through this initiative, the Arts Endowment will support exemplary projects and partnerships that employ professional artists and involve older adults as creators. The application deadline is May 23, 2008. Approximately fifteen grants will be awarded in the amount of $15,000 or $25,000, and require a one-to-one match. Applications must be submitted via grants.gov for project support that would begin after January 1, 2009. Projects, regardless of the size or type of applicant organization, should be of national or regional significance, serve as models for the field, or provide an unusual or especially valuable contribution because of location in an area where programming involving older adults is underrepresented. Projects may include but are not limited to:- Activities that involve older adults in choruses, instrumental groups, and/or creative writing projects.- Intergenerational programs including mentorship programs between older adult artists and students. - The expansion of arts education beyond kindergarten through grade 12 to include lifelong learning in the arts for older adults in the disciplines of literature and/or music.- Technical assistance, including Web-based resources, to assist with quality arts programming in literature and/or music for, by, and with older adults. Projects must:- Be limited to the disciplines of literature and/or music. - Focus on the involvement of older adults in the art form(s).- Employ professional artists. - Be planned and implemented in cooperation with the target population including local organizations that address aging-related issues.- Engage older adults as resources such as artists, program planners, or trainers.- Be fully accessible to individuals with various disabilities. Organizations are limited to one Creativity and Aging application per year. An application in response to this announcement does not preclude an organization from applying under other Arts Endowment funding opportunities including Grants for Arts Projects. Information on Creativity and Aging grants and application instructions and forms are available in the Literature and Music Funding Opportunities section of the NEA’s website. http://www.nea.gov/grants/apply/CreativityAging.html **

CCF Funding not renewed for 2008

FY 2008 CCF Funding
For the 2008 grant cycle, Congress did not provide funding for new Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) grant awards. Unfortunately, this means that there will be no funding opportunities for the CCF Demonstration program, the CCF Targeted Capacity Building program, or the CCF Communities Empowering Youth program this year. Funding for future grant cycles will be determined, as always, by future congressional appropriations.
If you are interested, you may be able to apply for a subaward from one of the current CCF intermediaries. Please view the map of current CCF intermediaries to see if an intermediary project is serving your area. You may also subscribe to our newsletter for information about other funding opportunities, or visit the HHS Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Web site.

) Mattel Offers Grants for Programs Serving Children in Need Deadline: June 15, 2007 Mattel ( http://www.mattel.com/ ) and the Mattel Children's Foundation have announced the third year of the company's Domestic Grantmaking Program. Through the program, U.S. charitable organi- zations that can demonstrate they directly serve children in need may be eligible for one-year grants of $5,000 to $20,000 each. Funds may be applied to programs or general operating costs. To be eligible, applicant organizations must have 501(c)(3) tax- exempt status. Applicant organizations or programs must align with Mattel's philanthropic priorities: 1) Learning, increasing access to education for underserved children, and in particular innovative strategies designed to promote and address literacy; 2) Health, supporting the physical health and well-being of children, with particular emphasis on promoting healthy, active lifestyles; and 3) Girl Empowerment, promoting self-esteem in young girls up to the age of 12.

Two types of grants will be considered:
1) program-specific grants for the launch of new programs or the expansion of existing programs; and
2) core operating support.
